Addendum

I've just noticed my lips have a slightly purple tinge. Might just check that's normal. Goooooogle.....

Thank god. Thank god. I'm home.

That's how I feel about tonight's run.

Running club night so did 5.88 miles exactly (running partner had a Garmin) in 55.17 minutes. That's a 9.24 minute mile pace. Pleased, but absolutely exhausted. It's nearly 2 hours since I finished and my face is still utterly puce.

Pleased with performance though. Must thank my fellow runner. She's training for London and is set on increasing her speed over 'shorter distances'. Shorter?! Apparently, she did 11 miles yesterday and 20 on Sunday! She was very gracious about having a heavy-breathing albatross on her shoulder and even gave me some good advice about achieving my goal. Unfortunately it involves hill running and track sessions. I think I'll save that good advice for when I'm feeling fitter.

Rest day tomorrow so I'm celebrating with a prawn tempura roll. Food stuff of champions.

Day 2

Slightly longer run today in order to avoid shouty builders. 4.32 miles in 41 minutes 53 seconds. That's a 9.41 minute mile - an improvement of 14 secs per mile on yesterday. Which could mean I'm getting fitter. Or could mean that I didn't have to stop for traffic as often. Either way, I'll take it.

Today, the first 9 minutes were painful, followed by a short period of easy running, followed by interchanging minutes of smooth running and wheezing. Discovered that Don't Go by Yazoo is a good song for regulating my stride and breathing. I imagine that's what they were aiming for when they wrote it.

Interval training with ParcelForce

Just had to sprint downstairs to catch the lively delivery man, who gave me approximately 8 nanoseconds to answer the door. Excellent warm-up for today's run though.

Day 1 - part 2

Just been for a run. I did 4.18 miles (according to www.walkjogrun.net) in 41.31 minutes. This works out to be a 9.55 minute mile (according to the calculators on www.cararuns.org). It was quite warm out there and on the red face scale I'm definitely a 9. I also ran into that cute guy from Peep Show, which may further explain the redness of face.

Day 1

I'm a runner and I want to finish my next half-marathon in under 2 hours. (See, it's not just a clever name.) This is my blog.
